Tabriz was, once, the capital city of Persia. This was during the period when the Mongolian domination. The first rugs made for exportation, were woven here. Some workshop were created to weave taylor-made rugs. Then, there is no dominant character for these rugs. The knot is Turquish (Turkey is not far away) Warp and weft are in cotton, with double-threat for the weft. The patterns very often use flowers. The border has usually 3 bands, with the central band more decorated |
